Update: Snowstorm and Road Conditions
4:10 pm | 1/12/24: Snowstorm and Road Condition Update
The Village’s Public Works crews are working around the clock in 12-hour shifts to clear streets and prepare for ice and more snow.
Tonight, expect single-digit temperatures and wind gusts of 35-45 MPH. High winds are expected to cause blowing snow. De-icing will be less effective, leading to flash freezing and snow-covered streets into the weekend.
Parking Advisory:
Continue to refrain from street parking through the weekend. Give snowplows space and drive cautiously if you must travel.
Friday Garbage Collection:
Garbage collection was stopped earlier and is rescheduled for Saturday. Only trash will be collected, so please keep recycling bins inside. Promptly remove waste containers from roadways.
---
Burr Ridge is bracing for a significant temperature drop and the potential onslaught of a winter storm tomorrow. Anticipate a mix of moderate to heavy snow, rain, ice, and extreme wind chills. Blowing and drifting snow may continue to impact roadways through the weekend.
Groot Waste Pickup Alert:
For Friday's Groot waste pickup, residents north of 79th Street, please place your waste receptacles by the street tonight or no later than 5:00 A.M. Stay informed about any scheduling changes via the Groot website (www.groot.com) or the Groot App.
Parking Advisory:
The Burr Ridge Police Department reminds everyone that on-street parking is prohibited after 2” of snow accumulates. Park vehicles in garages or driveways, and lock them until the roadways are clear. Share this information with visitors, service providers, and contractors.
Public Works Update:
Our Public Works Department is actively monitoring the storm, deploying snowplow trucks, and continuously treating roadways until they are clear. Promptly remove waste containers from roadsides to aid effective plowing. Avoid blowing, shoveling, or plowing snow onto roadways.
