THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE IS TRANSMITTED AT THE REQUEST OF THE COLORADO AVALANCHE INFORMATION CENTER. ...AVALANCHE WATCH IN EFFECT FROM 4.30PM FRIDAY UNTIL 11.45 PM MONDAY...
*WHAT...Heavy snow and strong winds will create very dangerous avalanche conditions. Expect the danger to rise to HIGH (Level 4 of 5)by Sunday morning.
*WHERE...Never Summer Mountains, Flat Top Mountains, Rocky Mountain National Park down to Interstate-70, Ten Mile Range, Gore Range, Ruby Range, Elk Mountains, Sawatch Mountains, NW San Juan Mountains and La Plata Mountains.
*WHEN... Expect very dangerous avalanche conditions to begin on Sunday 6am and last through the end of the day Monday.
*IMPACTS...Large and dangerous avalanches will be very easy to trigger once new snow accumulates. Large avalanches will run naturally.
*PRECAUTION/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Travel in backcountry avalanche terrain is not recommended from Sunday morning through the end of the day Monday. Avoid travel on and under slopes steeper than about 30 degrees. You can find more detailed information at colorado.gov/avalanche
