1. Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree (B-FELONY)
ARRAIGNMENT/BAIL STATUS: Smith was processed at Amsterdam Police headquarters where he was held pending arraignment in Amsterdam City Court.
INCIDENT NARRATIVE: On Friday, 01/12/2024, at 164 Guy Park Avenue Apt 2R the City of Amsterdam Police department detective bureau pursuant to an active and ongoing investigation into the sale of illegal narcotics executed a search warrant. During the search of the residence detectives located packaging and paraphernalia associated with the trafficking of narcotics. The target of the investigation, Clifton Smith, was wanted on an active arrest warrant after selling controlled substances to police sources during the investigation. Smith was located during the search and taken into custody without incident. Smith was transported to the Amsterdam Police Department where he was processed on the above charges. The Amsterdam Police Department was assisted by the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office and the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office in this investigation.
While there is probable cause for this arrest, all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
