This is a message from the Fairfield Office of Emergency Management.
The approximate rainfall we received overnight was under 1 inch, and this greatly helped our predictions to fall. We are now predicted to crest tonight at 1am at around 21 feet, which is six inches lower than it was an hour ago.
Route 46 East is currently open at the Wayne border, and exit 47B off of Route 80 is also still open. At this time, it is not anticipated that either will need to be closed.
We do not expect flooding conditions to worsen as the river continues to recede, however some roadways are still flooded and we ask that you do not drive around barricades or into flooded waters.
For further information on current road closures, citizens can visit the Township of Fairfield’s website at www.fairfieldnj.org or call the flood hotline and speak with an officer at 201-522-9267.
