The Thousand Oaks Police Department will be offering a Citizen Academy class in the station’s Community Room. The academy is a 12-week course designed to give citizens an overview of the police department’s function and operational procedures. This course is also designed to foster relationships between the residents of the Conejo Valley and local law enforcement. The course is free and will be held every Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. beginning February 21st through May 8th. The courses are primarily conducted in a classroom setting with experienced guest speakers, however field trips to the Pre-Trial Detention Facility in Ventura amongst other Sheriff’s locations are also part of this program. Fill out your application soon as class size is limited. Potential candidates must be at least 21 years of age, live or work in Ventura County, have no felony convictions, and no misdemeanor convictions within one year of applying.
