This is an updated message from the Fairfield Office of Emergency Management regarding current flooding conditions. The Township of Fairfield is still in a local state of emergency. 

As of 8 AM today, the Passaic River gauge at Pinebrook indicated the river to be at 20.6 feet. This level indicates a transition from major to moderate flood conditions. While water continues to recede, citizens can still expect to encounter flooded and/or closed roadways. Motorists should not drive through flooded or closed roadways.

The following major roadways still remain closed. These roads include:

•    Bloomfield Avenue
•    Horseneck Road (from Hollywood Avenue to the Montville line)
•    Little Falls Road @ Pier Lane and @ Carlos Drive
•    Two Bridges Road into Lincoln Park

As we move into the damage assessment and clean up phase for this flood emergency, the Office of Emergency Management is asking for the public’s cooperation and assistance so that this phase can be done in an efficient and effective way.  

Residents should document all flood damaged items with photographs as this documentation may be required before this damaged property is picked up by the township. Sandbags will be picked up by the township and can be placed on the curb.  Please refrain from placing bulk items and sandbags out on the curb until after Tuesday, January 16th, as there is a snow event predicted.
