APD and state and local partners, conducted weeklong anti-gang operation which resulted in multiple arrests and weapons seizures.

The Amarillo Police Department is pleased to announce the successful conclusion of a week-long Anti-Gang Operation, which took place from January 8th through the 12th, 2024. This operation was a collaborative effort aimed at addressing and mitigating gang-related criminal activities within the City of Amarillo.
 
Over the five-day period, law enforcement personnel from various units, including the Amarillo Police Department’s Special Operations Division GIU(Gang Intelligence Unit), NPO(Neighborhood Police Officers), PACE(Proactive Criminal Enforcement) and Criminal Investigations Unit (Juvenile Detectives), the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigation’s Division and the Texas Highway Patrol Division, and Potter County Sheriff’s Department, worked tirelessly to achieve the operation's objectives. These objectives encompassed intelligence gathering, the disruption of criminal operations, and the prevention of violent crimes within the designated geographical areas.
 
Key Operation Statistics:
 
Over 28 traffic contacts were made.
Three search warrants were executed.
A total of 9 arrests were made for on-view charges and warrants.
Law enforcement seized three handguns from known felons.
Law enforcement seized the following illegal drugs:
          Fentanyl: 2.92 grams
          Cocaine: 793 grams (1.72 pounds)
          Marijuana: 282.29 grams
 
These numbers underscore the impact of the operation in addressing criminal activities and enhancing community safety. While specific details regarding the operation's outcomes cannot be disclosed at this time due to ongoing investigations, these results highlight the dedication and effectiveness of our law enforcement personnel.
 
The Amarillo Police Department, Department of Public Safety, and the Potter County Sheriff’s will continue to partner with our community to relentlessly pursue and bring to justice individuals who threaten the safety of our citizens.
