Winter Weather Advisory-Hazardous Morning Commute

Winter Weather Advisory: Light Snow & Ice Tonight into Tuesday

Some initial flurries likely develop across the area later this evening before the main area of snow builds in around Midnight. Meanwhile, the ground is rather cold and this, combined with air temps in the 20s will allow for the snow to quickly accumulate on all surfaces, especially where untreated. A steady light to occasionally moderate snow will then continue overnight into Tuesday morning before possibly mixing with some sleet or freezing rain. And while we may even see a lull in the precipitation, a final round of mainly light snow is likely before it all exits Tuesday afternoon. Still expecting a widespread 2 - 4" of snow, most of which falls in a 12-hour period. Finally, any lingering wet or slushy areas will quickly freeze up Tuesday evening/night as temps plummet into the teens by Wednesday morning. THE MORNING COMMUTE IS EXPECTED TO BE HAZARDOUS FOR TRAVEL, please monitor the local news and weather forecast for updates.

Byram Hills & Valhalla School Districts have already announced a 2-hour delay for tomorrow! Please monitor your school district’s communication channels for any updates on tomorrow’s schedule.

In the event of life threatening emergencies, dial 911. Call North Castle Police at 914-273-9500 for any non-life threatening matters, traffic issues, downed trees, etc.
Reminders:
  • Do not leave vehicles parked on the street during the overnight hours. Vehicles may be summoned and possibly towed if they hinder snow removal:  “No vehicle shall be allowed or permitted to be parked, stored or kept unattended on any Town highway or other highway within the Town of North Castle from 1:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. during the period from November 15 to April 1.”
  • Depositing of snow into the roadway is a violation of Town Code and NY State Law; as well as creating a risk to public safety. Please ensure that anyone you hire for snow removal is aware of all legal ramifications as well as legitimate public safety concerns for depositing snow and other debris into our roadways.
