Charges: Driving Under the Influence (23152 CVC)
On Monday, January 15, 2024, at approximately 3:55pm, personnel from the Petaluma Police Department and Petaluma Fire Department were dispatched to the intersection of Petaluma Blvd S and Crystal Ln for a reported solo vehicle collision into fire hydrant. Officers arrived on scene and found a white Ford F-150 that had collided into a hydrant near the round-a-bout. Officers contacted the driver and sole occupant of the truck who was identified as Anthony Fires. Fires showed objective signs of alcohol intoxication and was subsequently placed under arrest for DUI. Fires was taken to the hospital for medical clearance prior to being booked into the Sonoma County Jail.
The Petaluma Police Department has been committed to increasing traffic safety and especially reducing the number of alcohol-related collisions. Petaluma Police advise motorist to plan ahead if you’re going to go out and drink alcohol, designate a sober driver or share a ride. Drivers caught driving impaired and charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.
