Newburgh man arrested on DUI charge.

On January 14, 2024, at 9:29 p.m. Gibson County Central Dispatch received a report of a person passed out behind the wheel of a White Toyota passenger car on Interstate 69 near the 25.5 Mile Marker.  Deputies were dispatched to the area to perform a welfare check on the driver, and upon locating the vehicle Deputies spoke with 40 year old Troy Torrence of Newburgh.  While speaking with Mr. Torrence Deputy Quinten Might detected clues that the driver may be under the influence of an unknown intoxicant.  At that point Deputy Might began a roadside DUI investigation.  At the conclusion of his investigation Deputy Might transported Mr. Torrence to the Gibson County Jail where he was charged with Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated with a Prior Conviction. 
 
Assisting Deputy Might in his investigation was Sgt. Loren Barchett.
 
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
