Deputies Administer Narcan Upon Responding to a Reported Overdose in Needles
DATE/TIME: January 14, 2024, at approximately 8:10 p.m.

LOCATION: Smokestack Street and N Street, Needles, CA

VICTIM(S): Confidential
SUMMARY: On Sunday, January 14, 2024, at approximately 8:10 p.m., deputies responded to a call for service near the area of Smokestack Street and N Street for a report of a possible drug overdose. When deputies arrived on scene, they searched for the victim who was located a short time later in the desert, just northeast of the intersection. Deputies found the victim to be unresponsive and not breathing. Deputies quickly recognized the signs of a possible fentanyl overdose and administered one dose of Narcan, however the victim was still unresponsive. Deputies conducted sternum rubs and again administered a second dose of Narcan. A short time later, the victim regained consciousness and started breathing. The victim was then taken by ambulance to a local hospital for medical treatment.
