Police Seek Help Identifying Shooting Suspect

Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé requests the public’s help with identifying the below-pictured suspect in connection with a shooting that occurred on Thursday, January 11, 2024.

At approximately 2:49 p.m., officers patrolling the 300 block of South Orange Avenue were flagged down by an individual who reported that a shooting had taken place inside an area establishment. Responding officers located two juveniles, a 14-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy, who had been shot following an altercation involving the boy and two males who entered the establishment. One of the suspects opened fire, shooting both victims, who each was transported to University Hospital for treatment. Both victims are reportedly in stable condition.

Detectives investigating this incident are seeking the public’s help in identifying the shooting suspect, who fled the scene, heading eastbound on South Orange Avenue.

Director Fragé urges anyone with information regarding the identity of this suspect to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).  All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
