LOCATION: Adelanto
SUSPECT: Howard Powell III, 29 years-old, resident of Adelanto
VICTIM(S): Teenage Female (Age and Name Withheld to Protect Identity)
SUMMARY: On Tuesday, January 16, 2024, deputies were contacted by a local high school regarding a female student reporting she was being sexually assaulted by a male relative, identified as Howard Powell III.
Deputies and detectives interviewed the teenage victim and obtained search warrants to obtain DNA and other evidence associated with the allegations. Evidence was located to substantiate the crime had occurred, and Howard Powell III was arrested for multiple sexual offenses.
Howard Powell III is currently being held at High Desert Detention Center in lieu of $100,000.00 bail.
