TIPS FOR CONSERVING WATER
With approximately 7,000 customers using water resources each day, water conservation efforts are very important. Using water saving techniques can save money, reduce water treatment costs and the amount of energy used to treat and distribute water to you - our customers. Below are some tips for conserving our water resources:
Bathrooms
o Do not run water continuously while washing hands/face, brushing teeth or shaving
o Take showers instead of baths.
o Check for water leaks within toilets, sinks, shower heads, etc.
o Never use your toilet as a waste basket
Kitchen and Laundry
o Run the dishwasher when you have a full load
o Do not run water continuously while washing dishes by hand
o Routinely check your faucets for leaks
o Wash only full loads of clothes and adjust water levels to match size of the loads
Here are some tips to conserve water during the winter months:
o Drip faucets instead of running water to prevent pipes from freezing
o Wrap all exposed pipes and insulate hot water pipes to protect from bursting
o If water pipes do burst, know where your shut off valve is located to prevent excessive damage and decrease water usage
o Call a plumbing contractor after first thaw to check your pipes for damage and leaks, if needed
Regardless of the season, it is important to be conscious of the amount of water being used. Be sure to follow the bathroom, kitchen and laundry room water conservation tips year round to prevent excessive use of water during all seasons. Conserving water can be as simple as changing some of your everyday habits. Thank you for your cooperation…
