Wilmington Police have arrested two men on drug charges.

On January 14, at approximately 11:25 a.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division were in the 200 block of North Franklin Street, when they observed a motor vehicle commit a traffic violation. Officers conducted a motor vehicle stop, at which time two subjects attempted to exit the vehicle and flee on foot. The driver – 21-year-old Miguel Maldanado, and 22-year-old Shamar Wright were taken into custody without incident. Following a brief investigation, police recovered 165 grams of marijuana, and $1,017.

Maldanado has been charged with the following offenses in addition to traffic violations:

• Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver
• Possession of Marijuana
• Resisting Arrest

He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and was released on $4,500 unsecured bail.

Wright has been charged with the following offenses:

• Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver
• Resisting Arrest

He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $3,000 unsecured bail.
