On Wednesday January 17, at 8pm officers were sent to a reported shooting at Sam Houston Park. The victim was taken to an area hospital and later died from a gunshot wound. The victim is identified as John Edward Red, 09/15/03. APD Homicide began investigating and developed suspect information. A murder warrant was obtained for the suspect, Jhequaylen Elija Badillo, 07/28/05. Surveillance was conducted at a residence in the 1500 block of Hillcrest. The suspect ran from that residence. Officers began pursuing the suspect on foot and he ran between two houses in the 4200 block of Wolflin, where officers heard a gunshot. The suspect is now deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. This case is still under investigation by the Amarillo Police Homicide unit.
