On 1/19/2024 at 1306 HRS, SVPD officers conducted a traffic stop in the 2100 block of First Street. The driver, Luis Espana (a 40-year-old Simi Valley resident), immediately exited the vehicle and became aggressive, taking a fighting stance and refusing to follow commands. Officers held the subject at "taser-point" and called for assistance. Espana fought officer when they moved in to arrest him.  A taser drive stun (on the suspect's back) was utilized to overcome Espana's resistance.  Espana was later booked for 69 PC and 243 PC. No officers were injured during the arrest; Epana had a complaint of knee pain.
