...HEAVY SNOW ACROSS THE CENTRAL PANHANDLE... .Snowfall continues across the panhandle. Dry snow will become wetter through the event with central areas of the panhandle changing to freezing rain and rain. For northern areas, it is possible that snow lasts longer into Tuesday morning. Freezing rain may mix in with snow across parts of the central and northern panhandle.
* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 7 inches.
* WHERE...Skagway, Haines, and Klukwan including the Haines and Klondike Highways.
* WHEN...From 9 AM this morning to 6 AM AKST Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...Travel could be difficult.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The greatest snowfall rates will be during the afternoon and evening hours on Monday. There is significant uncertainty regarding anticipated snow totals. Snow totals may prove lower than anticipated should precipitation have trouble moving northward.
