Overnight Residential Burglary - Crane Parkway January 21st 2024
On January 21st, 2024 at approximately 3:00 AM, the Cranford Police Department responded to a Crane Parkway home on the report of a residential burglary after-the-fact. The homeowner reported that after hearing their dog bark, they determined that a main-level window was removed. Subsequently, the homeowner reviewed their home surveillance cameras which captured three (3) suspects arriving at their home in a white SUV at approximately 2:29 AM. One suspect remained in the driver seat of the vehicle while two male suspects exited the SUV and walked to the front door of the residence. After unsuccessfully attempting to walk through the locked front door, the suspects walked to the side of the residence where one used a crowbar to force entry to the living room window. Several items were taken from within the home. This home was occupied by its residents during this event.
Responding officers immediately determined that the victim had 2 BMW's parked on this property at the time of the burglary.
The Cranford Police Department and other surrounding police agencies within Union County has seen an uptick in BMW's being targeted by vehicle thieves. As high-end vehicles remain targeted by thieves during these incidents, residents are encouraged to be vigilant in locking not only their vehicles, but also ensuring that their homes are secured during overnight hours. Please continue to remove keyfobs from your vehicles when they are parked. Also, check that your security cameras are operational.
