Argument Leads to Shooting, West Point

On January 20th, at approximately 0900 hours, Calaveras County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a reported vehicle vandalism on the 100 block of Main Street in West Point, California.

Upon arrival, deputies were informed of a prior altercation that occurred the night before between the victim and 36-year-old Corbin Adams. The confrontation escalated into a physical dispute. A short time after the occurrence, the victim reported hearing gunfire outside his residence and observed Corbin Adams’ vehicle leaving the location. A vehicle parked in the victim’s driveway was subsequently found with bullet damage, shattered windows, and a flat tire. This incident was not reported by the victim until the following morning.

At approximately 1230 hours, the Sheriff's Office received another call from the same location regarding a separate shooting. Deputies arrived to find the victim in the driveway with a gunshot wound to a lower extremity. Investigations revealed that an additional argument had occurred between the victim and Corbin Adams, during which Adams displayed a handgun and fired at the victim before fleeing the scene. The victim was transported to an out-of-area hospital and is currently in stable condition.

Later, deputies responded to an out-of-area hospital where Corbin Adams had sought treatment and was admitted, claiming he had been stabbed by the victim during their initial confrontation the night before.

The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating these incidents, and anyone with information related to these cases may contact the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office.
