Arrest Made in ATM Theft Case

OPD News:
The Oakland Police Department (OPD) has arrested Anthony Pearson in connection with the theft of an ATM on January 21, 2024, in the 300 block of Hegenberger Road.
Thanks to the tireless and collaborative efforts of OPD officers working the burglary suppression and patrol, Pearson was safely taken into custody on January 21, 2024.
The Alameda County District Attorney's Office has filed charges against Pearson for his involvement in the crime.
Background:
The Oakland Police Department (OPD) is investigating a theft that occurred on January 21, 2024, in the 300 block of Hegenberger Road, shortly before 7:30 AM. The OPD Communications Division received a report of multiple individuals attempting to remove an ATM machine from a business. When officers arrived, they located damage at a business. An ATM machine appeared to have been removed from the exterior of the business. Officers later learned that multiple individuals arrived at the location in a vehicle. The individuals used tools to remove an ATM from the exterior of the business then fled the area with the ATM machine.
During the investigation, officers were alerted to the location of the stolen ATM machine in the 4000 block of Alameda Avenue. Officers relocated to the area and took an individual into custody in connection to the stolen ATM machine.
