Registration is Now Open for the 2024 Citizens’ Academy! Apply Now for the 8 Week Course that Gives You a Behind-the-Scenes Look at FPD

Are you 21 or older and live or work in Fairfield?

Curious about what happens behind the scenes at Fairfield Police Department?

Have some free time on Thursday nights?

Then you should apply for this year’s Citizens’ Academy!

The Citizens' Academy highlights the Fairfield Police Department's Community Policing philosophy, which strengthens the bond between our community members and our police officers as we proactively work together to solve community issues of varying complexity.

The goal of the Citizens' Academy is to create a growing core of well-informed community members who can serve as ambassadors, sharing their experiences and knowledge about law enforcement and the Fairfield Police Department with other community members.

Registration opened on Monday, January 22 and closes February 12 at 3PM.     Applications will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis, and only first time attendees will be considered (we know you love us, but give someone else a chance, mmkay?)

25 people will be chosen from the pool of applicants for this 8 week, interactive course. During the three-hour sessions (Thursdays from 6-9 pm) those who live or work within city limits will get an up-close and personal look at the way the Fairfield Police Department is organized and an opportunity to learn more about its operations.

**The academy meets every Thursdays, February 29-April 18, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. Participants cannot miss more than one class during the eight-week course.

Those interested in becoming a volunteer (ages 18+) get priority consideration!
