SUSPECT(S): Anthony Luna, 27-year-old resident of Barstow
VICTIM(S): Tractor Supply Co. & Employees
SUMMARY: Detectives of the Barstow Sheriff's Station received information about recent thefts in the Newberry Springs area being perpetrated by an unknown suspect possibly driving a silver Toyota Rav4 sport utility vehicle with a ladder attached to the roof.
On January 23, 2024, Detective Faylor spotted a vehicle matching the description in the parking lot of the Tractor Supply store on Main Street in Barstow. While surveilling the vehicle, Faylor and assisting deputies saw a male subject, who was later identified as Anthony Luna, exit Tractor Supply with several employees attempting to stop him. Out of concern this was a theft in progress, deputies intervened and detained Luna without further incident.
Through investigation at the scene, deputies learned Luna had stolen merchandise and allegedly punched a Tractor Supply employee to escape the location with the merchandise. Luna was arrested and booked at the High Desert Detention Center for PC 211, Strong-Armed Robbery.
