On January 6th, 2024, two suspects were arrested for their involvement in organized residential burglaries which occurred in the City of Thousand Oaks and nearby communities. An additional suspect was arrested on January 18th, 2024, in connection to these burglaries. On November 4th, 2023, a residential burglary occurred in the unincorporated community of Oak Park. On November 11th, 2023, a residential burglary occurred in the City of Thousand Oaks. An additional residential burglary occurred in the unincorporated community of Lake Sherwood on December 28th, 2023. On January 6th, 2024, Thousand Oaks patrol units attempted to conduct a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle as it drove through a residential community in the City of Thousand Oaks. This vehicle failed to yield and a pursuit ensued. During the pursuit, Sheriff’s Copter 3 was utilized and saw a duffle bag thrown from the fleeing vehicle. This duffle bag was later retrieved and contained sophisticated burglary tools. The suspect vehicle ultimately stopped in the 1600 block of Brentford Avenue in Thousand Oaks. Three suspects fled from the vehicle, two of which were apprehended and identified as Tomas Moran-Martinez and Fernando Caceres. Burglary tools were also located in the vehicle. Through investigative resources, detectives learned these suspects were associated to the above-mentioned burglaries in Thousand Oaks, Oak Park and Lake Sherwood. On January 18th, 2024, Thousand Oaks detectives served a search warrant at the suspect’s residence in the 7000 block of Lankershim Blvd. in North Hollywood, where stolen property connected to Thousand Oaks residential burglaries was located. Yanara Moncada Rojas was also arrested on this date in connection to these burglaries. Tomas Moran-Martinez and Fernando Caceres were both arrested on multiple charges, including residential burglary, conspiracy to commit residential burglary, possession of burglary tools and resisting arrest by attempting to flee. Both remain in custody at the Ventura County Pre-Trail Detention Facility with bail set at $500,000. Yanara Moncada-Rojas was booked at the Ventura County Pre-Trail Detention Facility on charges including receiving stolen property and possessing fraudulent government identification documents. Moncada-Rojas is currently out of custody on in lieu of $20,000.00 bail and is scheduled to appear in Ventura County Superior Court on January 31st at 1:30pm. |
