INCIDENT: Attempted Murder
LOCATION: 11200 block of Balsam Avenue, Hesperia
SUSPECT(S): Andrew Raymond Sanchez, 41-year-old, resident of Hesperia
VICTIM(S): Confidential
SUMMARY: On January 25, 2024, at about 09:31 a.m., deputies with the Hesperia Police Department responded to the 11200 block of Balsam Avenue in the city of Hesperia reference a reported assault. Deputies were advised the suspect assaulted the victim with a bladed object and fled the scene.
Upon deputies arrival, the suspect was located a short distance from the incident location and he was detained. Through investigation it was learned the suspect and victim had a verbal alteration that escalated into the suspect gaining access to a sword and holding the sword to the victim’s throat. The victim attempted to remove the sword from his throat. The suspect applied more pressure on the sword causing the victim to sustain a major hand injury. The victim was taken to a trauma center for treatment.
The suspect, identified as Andrew Sanchez, 41-year-old resident of Hesperia, was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for PC664/187-Attempted Murder. Sanchez is being held on $1,000,000.00 bail.
