A man was arrested for a robbery with a firearm after an extensive investigation.

San Mateo, CA – San Mateo Police Department arrested Marquese Reese in connection with an armed robbery that occurred on November 15, 2023.  After a detailed investigation, Reese was arrested in Stockton and booked into San Joaquin County Jail.

On November 15, 2023, San Mateo Police Department received a 911 call reporting a business that had just been robbed and the suspect had left.  Police Officers responded to the 500 block of South Norfolk Street and spoke to the employee who called police.  The victim said a single male entered the store holding a firearm, walked around the counter, pointed the firearm at the victim and demanded the victim to open the cash register.  The suspect stole over $2,000 from the cash register and fled the scene.

The Criminal Investigation Bureau continued this investigation, collecting evidence, writing search warrants, and reviewing surveillance footage.  After an extensive investigation, the suspect was determined to be Marquese Reese.  An arrest warrant was issued, and Reese was placed under arrest in Stockton for robbery.  Reese was booked into San Joaquin County Jail.

We need the community’s support in reporting crimes and being a good witness.  If you witness a crime, contact police immediately.  Try to remain as calm as possible and do your best to answer questions on the phone.  Remember details such as the suspect’s appearance, clothing, any distinguishing features, and which direction they flee. Once the police arrive at the scene, cooperate fully, and provide the officers with all the information you have.  Your observations can greatly assist law enforcement in their investigation.

Surveillance cameras are important and help police solve crimes throughout the community.  Most often, a suspect will flee the scene of a crime prior to police arrival.  Surveillance cameras are helpful for investigations and ensuring criminals are held accountable for their actions.  We encourage our residents to register their home surveillance cameras with us.  You can securely register your home surveillance cameras on our website at Security Camera Registration | San Mateo, CA - Official Website (cityofsanmateo.org).
