On Thursday January 25, 2024 at approximately 6:30p.m., the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety (RPDPS) received a 911 call stating from a passerby within a shopping center parking lot in the 900 block of Golf Course Drive in Rohnert Park. The reporting party stated that they heard a loud sound consistent with a gun shot and subsequently viewed an adult male laying on the ground in the parking lot of the shopping center.
RPDPS Police and Fire personnel arrived on scene within one minute of the initial dispatch and located an adult male on the ground with a single gunshot wound to his chest. RPDPS personnel and Sonoma County Fire personnel performed life-saving efforts. However, the adult male was announced deceased on scene.
The identity of the decedent is not being released at this time.
