8th Street and Channing Shooting Suspect Arrested 
On March 30, 2023, around 4:26 pm, Berkeley Police Officers responded to a shooting at the intersection of 8th Street and Channing Way in Berkeley. On scene, Officers located physical evidence representing that a shooting did occur but did not locate any victims in the area. Evidence was collected, processed, and sent to our Detectives for further review.
During our Detective's investigation, they identified Jaedon Woods as a suspect in this case. A warrant was issued for Woods relating to the shooting and on the morning of January 24, 2024, with the assistance of the US Marshal Fugitive Task Force, Woods was arrested at his residence in Fairfield, CA. A search warrant at the residence yielded additional evidence linking Woods to this shooting. Woods was arrested and booked at the Berkeley City Jail on numerous charges.
On January 25, 2024, the Alameda County DA's Office charged Woods with PC 245(a)(2)—Assault with a firearm and PC 246—Shooting at inhabited dwelling, to include several Felony enhancements related to this case.
