Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Investigators are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a female juvenile.
East Los Angeles Station deputies responded to the 4800 block of Civic Center Way in East Los Angeles regarding a child assaulted call for service.
The incident occurred on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at approximately 11:09 p.m.
When deputies arrived, they found the victim, a female juvenile, unresponsive in a vehicle. The victim was transported to a local area hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.
A female Hispanic adult, later determined to be the victim’s mother, was detained at the scene. The victim’s mother was subsequently taken into custody and placed under arrest for murder.
The initial autopsy from the Department of Medical Examiner determined the cause of death as homicide.
The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for review on Tuesday, January 30, 2024.
The investigation is ongoing, and currently there is no additional information.
