Flood Warning until 05:24PM Monday

...The National Weather Service in Baltimore MD/Washington DC has issued a Flood Warning for the following rivers in West Virginia... Opequon Creek near Martinsburg affecting Berkeley and Jefferson Counties. For the Opequon Creek...including Martinsburg...Minor flooding is forecast.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Opequon Creek near Martinsburg.

* WHEN...From this afternoon to tomorrow afternoon.

* IMPACTS...At 12.5 feet, The creek is well out of its banks with lowlands nearby flooded. Golf Course Road /County Road 36/ is flooded near the Van Metre Ford Pedestrian Bridge. Fields and backyards near the creek are flooded and some residents may need to move items to higher ground. Several other roads are flooded, including Grapevine Road, Douglas Grove Road, and Paynes Ford Road. Backwater flooding is occurring on small tributaries, including Tuscarora Creek.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 7:30 AM EST Sunday the stage was 3.7 feet, or 6.3 feet below flood stage. - Bankfull stage is 9.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage this afternoon to a crest of 12.3 feet just after midnight tonight. It will then fall below flood stage late Monday morning. - Flood stage is 10.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 12.2 feet on 02/14/1971. - Please visit www.weather.gov/safety/flood for flood safety and preparedness information.
