* WHAT...Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
* WHERE...A portion of northern West Virginia, including the following county, Pocahontas.
* WHEN...Until 1245 PM EST.
* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 929 AM EST, the gauge at Huntersville on Knapp Creek indicated a stage of 9.2 feet with the creek nearing its crest. At a stage of 9 feet, farmland, fields, and buildings next to Knapp Creek and Browns Creek begin to flood. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Instructions:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route. Report flooding to the National Weather Service by calling toll free, 800 401 9535, when you can do so safely.
