Newark Police Department Crime Blotter Jan 22-28, 2024
The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.
MONDAY, JANUARY 22, 2024:
8:08 PM: Officer Stevenson investigated a vehicle burglary in the parking lot of a restaurant on the 5600 block of Mowry Ave. Entry was gained by window smash, and the loss was a purse.
9:51 PM: Officer Smith investigated a vehicle burglary at the 5700 block of Mowry Ave. Entry was made via window smash, the loss were the victim’s backpacks.
10:45 PM: Officers received broadcasts regarding a vehicle evading police and entering into Newark. Officer Swadener observed the vehicle collide in a hit-and-run in the area of Cedar Avenue and Robertson Avenue. He then observed one occupant from the vehicle, a 21-year-old male flee on foot. Officer Swadener detained the male and he was turned over to Fremont Police.
TUESDAY, JANUARY 23, 2024:
7:03 AM Officer S. Torres investigated a vehicle burglary at the 5900 block of Mowry Ave. Entry was gained by smashing the window and reported loss were tools.
8:35 AM Officers were alerted to a stolen vehicle parked at the area of Balentine Drive and Stevenson Boulevard. A 33-year-old male from Pleasanton was arrested for possession of the vehicle.
11:01 AM Sergeant Warren recovered a stolen vehicle near Charles Street and Tenaya Avenue.
4:03 PM Officers were dispatched to an altercation at the 39800 block of Cedar Boulevard. Officers learned a fight occurred at the location and the involved parties fled. A 24-year-old unsheltered male and a 36-year-old male, both out of Newark, were detained for the incident and fought with officers. The 24-year-old male was arrested for battery, assault, resisting arrest and outstanding warrants. The male was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
11:32 PM Officer Kapu investigated a report of a stolen vehicle at the 34900 block of Newark Boulevard.
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 24, 2024:
7:29 AM Officer Quinonez investigated a vehicle burglary near Lafayette Avenue and McLaughlin Avenue. Entry occurred by prying the door and the reported loss are tools.
8:25 AM Officer Towsend was dispatched to the 35900 block of Cherry Street regarding a disturbance. A 28-year-old male out of Newark was arrested for attempted burglary and vandalism and booked at Santa Rita Jail.
9:05 AM Officer Slavazza investigated a stolen vehicle report near Seawind Way and Breakers Road.
7:16 PM Officer Riddles investigated a vehicle burglary at the 5900 block of Mowry Ave. Entry was gained by window smash, loss was contents inside backpacks.
8:33 PM Officer Cervantes investigated a vehicle burglary at the 3100 block of Newpark Mall. Entry was gained by window smash and the loss was the contents inside a briefcase.
THURSDAY, JANUARY 25, 2024:
9:33 AM Officer Jackman investigated the report of a stolen vehicle in the area of Olive Street and Dairy Avenue.
6:57 PM Officer Orozco recovered a stolen vehicle on the 5400 block of Thornton Avenue.
FRIDAY, JANUARY 26, 2024:
2:58 AM Officer Riddles performed a traffic stop on a vehicle without license plates near Mowry Ave and Newpark Mall Road. A 65-year-old male from Fremont was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm and narcotics.
SATURDAY, JANUARY 27, 2024:
7:45 PM Officer Swadener conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with broken taillights and expired registration. The driver of the vehicle, a 35-year-old female out of Fremont, was arrested and released from the scene with a citation for not having a vehicle interlocking device and narcotics paraphernalia.
11:47 PM Officer Orozco responded to a disturbance on the 37000 block of Walnut St. Upon arriving, a 29-year-old male fled on foot until apprehended on Thornton Ave. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail for possession of narcotics and delaying arrest.
SUNDAY, JANUARY 28, 2024:
11:26 AM Officer Williams recovered a stolen vehicle on the 6200 block of Joaquin Murieta Avenue.
2:16 PM Officer Lara was dispatched 36000 block of Ruschin Drive regarding a disturbance. A 44-year-old male was arrested for outstanding warrants.
