Winter Weather Advisory until 11:00AM Thursday
* WHAT...Blowing snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.
* WHERE...Pribilof Islands.
* WHEN...From 11 PM this evening to 11 AM AKST Thursday.
* IMPACTS...Plan on difficult travel conditions. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Southeasterly winds will increase Wednesday evening and persist through Thursday ahead of a strong frontal system. The combination of snowfall from a storm system this morning, along with additional snowfall expected tonight through Thursday morning, will likely produce areas of blowing snow. The blowing snow is expected to reduce visibility to as low as one half mile for Saint Paul Island. Blowing snow is also possible for Saint George Island. However, temperatures closer to freezing will likely limit the intensity of any blowing snow. Temperatures are expected to warm into the lower to mid 30s by late Thursday morning, allowing for a mix of rain/snow and ending any potential for blowing snow.
* AFFECTED AREAS: PRIBILOF ISLANDS
Instructions:
Slow down and use caution while traveling.
