Wilmington Police have arrested a man on gun charges.
On January 25, at approximately 9:36 p.m., members of the Safe Streets Task Force conducted a motor vehicle stop in the 600 block of North Monroe Street. Upon stopping the vehicle, 25-year-old Lucas Gatlin fled from the vehicle on foot. Following a brief foot pursuit, Gatlin was taken into custody without incident and police recovered a loaded 9mm handgun.
Gatlin has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited – Two Counts
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Resisting Arrest
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $40,500 cash-only bail.
