Wilmington Police have arrested a Newark man in connection with a November 2023 fatal motor vehicle collision.

On November 27, 2023, at approximately 5:49 a.m., Wilmington Police responded to the 100 block of North Monroe Street, in reference to a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle. Upon arrival, officers located a victim – 38-year-old Glenn Dupont – who later succumbed to his injuries. Prior to the arrival of police, the striking vehicle fled the scene of the collision. The case was assigned to Cpl. Keith Johnson of the WPD Traffic Unit.

Through the course of their investigation, investigators identified 27-year-old Everton Ellis of Newark as a suspect. The case was presented to the New Castle County Grand Jury on January 29, and an indictment was returned for Ellis. On January 31, Ellis was taken into custody without incident.

Ellis has been charged with the following offenses:

• Operation of a Vehicle Causing the Death of Another Person
• Leaving the Scene of a Collision Resulting in Death
