DETAILS: On January 31, 2024, at 7:33 AM, officers were investigating a shoplifting incident in the 800 block of N. Fillmore when they discovered an unresponsive male in a parking lot in the 800 block of N. Taylor with facial injuries from an apparent assault. The male was transported to a local hospital where he later died. The male was identified as Charles Don Pickard, 55 y/o male. A person of interest is in custody. Next of kin for the decedent has been notified. This case is being investigated by the Amarillo Police Department Homicide Unit.
