Jewelry Store Thieves Caught and Arrested
 
A man and woman were arrested for multiple charges and warrants. 
 
San Mateo, CA – On January 30, 2024, San Mateo Police Department received a 911 call from a jewelry store located on the unit block of East 3rd Avenue.  The employee of the store told police a male was inside the store that matched the description of a known jewelry thief.   
 
Officers arrived on scene to speak with the male and investigate to see if a crime had occurred.  As officers approached the business, the male exited the store, saw our officers, and began to run away.  The male suspect ran to a waiting black Volvo station wagon and the vehicle quickly drive away. 
 
Additional officers arrived in the area to look for the fleeing Volvo.  At the same time, officers began an initial investigation.  During the initial investigation officer learned the male suspect entered the business with the intent to steal jewelry, however left the store prior to stealing anything. 
 
The black Volvo was found as it merged onto northbound Highway 101.  Once it was safe, officers conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle and the car stopped on the shoulder of Highway 101.  The male, identified as Randolf Reiger, and the female driver, identified as Autumn Yates, were safely removed from the car. 
 
Reiger was arrested for multiple crimes including burglary.  Yates was arrested for possession of stolen property.  Both Reiger and Yates were booked into San Mateo County Jail. 
 
We need the community’s support in reporting crimes and being a good witness.  If you witness a crime, contact police immediately.  Try to remain as calm as possible and do your best to answer questions on the phone.  Remember details such as the suspect’s appearance, clothing, any distinguishing features, and which direction they flee. Once the police arrive at the scene, cooperate fully, and provide the officers with all the information you have.  Your observations can greatly assist law enforcement in their investigation.   
 
ARRESTED
Randolf Reiger, 35-year-old Clearlake resident.
CHARGES:
460(b) PC- second degree burglary, 148(a)(1) PC- obstruct a police officer, 11377(a) HS- possession of a controlled substance, 11364(a) HS- possession of paraphernalia, felony warrant for burglary.   
 
ARRESTED
Autumn Yates, 23-year-old Pennsylvania resident.
CHARGES:
496(a) PC- Possession of stolen property.
