Non-Urgent Burning Aroma in Community 
Please be advised that the Village of Lynwood is fully aware of the burning smell in the air, which was caused by an explosion at the BP Refinery in Whiting, IN due to a power outage.
The issue is under control at the BP plant, however, we ask that if you have to leave your house for any reason, please wear a mask. Anyone with respiratory health issues are recommended to stay indoors for the time being.
If you woukld like additional information on the matter, please tune into your preferred news channel or you can read more about it via web. We have not been notified that this is life threatening, however, we ask that you take alternate routes if driving. Whiting local officials has closed down traffic on Indianapolis Blvd from 129th to Schrage.
