We are nearing completion of safely shutting down bp’s Whiting refinery after a power outage disrupted operations at the facility on the afternoon of Thursday, February 1. bp immediately activated our emergency response team and the refinery’s office buildings were evacuated. Those office buildings are now reopened. Local authorities also briefly closed nearby roads, and they are now reopened. The safety of refinery staff and the community will remain our highest priority as we respond.  Update:   Air monitoring is underway and no elevated readings have been recorded.    All refinery personnel are accounted for and no injuries have been reported.    Local authorities have reopened roadways around the Refinery
