Incident: Fatal Traffic Collision

Decedent: Wanda McIntosh, 65-year-old, Resident of Rialto
Driver #1: Jose Jesus Santoyo-Ramirez, 22-year-old, Resident of Rialto
On Thursday, February 1, 2024, at approximately 5:41 a.m., the Rialto Police Communications Center received reports of a collision involving a vehicle versus pedestrian in the 1400 block of South Riverside Avenue. Officers arrived on scene at approximately 5:42 a.m. and discovered the pedestrian had sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and fully cooperated with the police investigation.
The Rialto Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) responded and conducted a preliminary investigation. Witness information and evidence indicated McIntosh was walking westbound across Riverside Avenue in the crosswalk of Senior Way against a red light. Santoyo-Ramirez was driving southbound on Riverside Avenue and entered the intersection on a green light prior to the collision. Impairment does not appear to be a factor in this collision.
