Winter Storm Watch until 03:00AM Monday

...ACCUMULATING SNOW FOR THIS WEEKEND... .A weak frontal wave will bring accumulating snow for most of the panhandle Saturday morning through Saturday evening. Juneau and Petersburg have the highest likelihood to achieve greater than 4 inches in a 12 hour period. Current dry and cold conditions will continue and yield ideal conditions for powdery, fast accumulating snow. Another front associated with a weakening low pressure system moving into the northern gulf will bring more snow to the NE gulf coast throughout the day Sunday. The heaviest snowfall rates are expected along the outer coast from Yakutat down to Lisianski Strait as the front loses forward momentum in the face of continuing northerly outflow winds ahead of it.

* WHAT...Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations of 8 to 11 inches possible. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph.

* WHERE...City and Borough of Yakutat and Cape Fairweather to Lisianski Strait.

* WHEN...From late Saturday night through late Sunday night.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow is expected to start light and dry with a period of more wet snow and a mix with rain possible with initial frontal passage Sunday afternoon. Heaviest snowfall rates expected in the late morning through afternoon hours.

* AFFECTED AREAS: CITY AND BOROUGH OF YAKUTAT ... CAPE FAIRWEATHER TO LISIANSKI STRAIT
