Five Moorpark residents were arrested for identity theft and conspiracy to commit a crime involving numerous victims throughout the United States.
In January 2024, Moorpark Investigators became aware of possible fraudulent purchases being made and delivered to an apartment in the 600 block of Spring Road in Moorpark. There were a significant number of packages delivered every day to the apartment from an online business. The packages were addressed to a significant number of different individuals, none of which live at or are associated with the apartment.
Further investigation revealed that 1,600 victims had their online accounts compromised and were victims of identity theft. Moorpark Investigators were able to identify and contact several victims to confirm they had not placed the orders that were delivered to the apartment in Moorpark.
Moorpark Investigators identified Quan Quoc Vo, Quoc Thai Vo, Thi Diem Chau, Dinh Thi Chau, and Xuan Phong Vo as being associated to the apartment and as suspects in this case. Moorpark Investigators determined all the suspects were involved in fraudulent activity related to the items that were delivered to the apartment.
A search warrant was served at the apartment and approximately 200 packages from the online business were recovered. All of the recovered packages were addressed to people that did not
live at or have any association with the apartment. Investigators were able to identify and contact several people the packages were addressed to, and the individuals confirmed they did not place an order and had no association with the apartment in Moorpark.
Quan Quac Vo, Quoc Thai Vo, Xuan Phong Vo, Thi Diem Chau and Dinh Thi Chau were arrested for 7 counts of identity theft and conspiracy charges. All 5 suspects were booked into the Pre-Trial Detention Facility in Ventura and ultimately released on their own recognizance. The next court date for all five suspects is scheduled for February 6th, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. at the Ventura Superior Court.
