Robbery investigation results in five arrests!

During the afternoon hours of January 14, 2024, the Simi Valley Police Department investigated a robbery that involved a juvenile victim who was violently attacked while in a remote area north of the Avalon Apartments located in the 1500 block of Jefferson Way. This matter was later forwarded to the Simi Valley Police Department’s Special Enforcement Team, which took the lead on the investigation.

During the ensuing investigation, SET officers were able to identify and arrest five suspects involved in this crime who are members/ associates of a local criminal street gang. The suspects, who are all residents of Simi Valley, were lodged at Juvenile Hall throughout the course of this two-week-long investigation except for one, who was cited and released to a parent due to their young age. Throughout its course, SET officers worked closely with school resource officers assigned to the Simi Valley Police Department’s Community Policing Bureau, which resulted in its successful conclusion. All of the suspects who were arrested are juveniles thus their names are not being released at this time. They have been charged with Robbery, Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Conspiracy with Gang Allegations.

The Simi Valley Police Department’s SET team is an entity within the Special Enforcement Bureau and was established as a crime suppression unit meant to address various crimes within the City. Those duties include the enforcement of lewd/dissolute conduct in public, Human Trafficking enforcement, ABC (Alcohol Beverage Control) enforcement investigations and assessment, the enforcement of street-level narcotics, warrant service on wanted individuals and gang enforcement.
