On February 4, 2024, officers with the Oxnard Police Department arrested Jonathan Vega Alfaro in the City of Oxnard on an arrest warrant related to his escape from custody.
 
On January 25, 2024, at approximately 1900 hours, Alfaro walked away from the Pre-Trial Detention Facility at 800 S. Victoria Avenue in Ventura. Alfaro was assigned as a kitchen worker and was last seen on the loading dock before walking off the facility grounds. A significant patrol response, including those from neighboring agencies, responded to assist in Alfaro’s apprehension, but Alfaro was not located.
 
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office received numerous tips from citizens who reported possible sightings of Alfaro. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office West County Special Enforcement Unit vetted those tips and continued to conduct directed enforcement to locate Alfaro.
 
On February 4, 2024, at approximately 4:00 PM, officers with the Oxnard Police Department were conducting directed patrols in the City of Oxnard to locate Alfaro. At this time, the officers observed Alfaro walking on the 3300 Block of South A Steet in the City of Oxnard. The officers contacted Alfaro, who was subsequently taken into custody without incident.
 
Alfaro was booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility for violating PC 4532(b)(1)- Escape while Felony Charges are Pending, in addition to other local warrants of arrest. Alfaro remains in custody with an upcoming court date and a $112,000 bail amount.
