On January 30th, McDowell County Sheriff’s Office deputies and McDowell EMS paramedics responded to a reported cardiac arrest at a residence in Nebo, NC. The 46-year-old male, Joseph Blevins, was transported and pronounced dead at Mission Hospital McDowell. 36-year-old Dustin Suttles and 31-year-old Katelyn Elliott, both of Nebo, were responsible for the care and well-being of Blevins. The investigation revealed Suttles, Elliott and Blevins had returned to Nebo this date from Tennessee. Once learning this information, the Sheriff’s Office contacted Pigeon Forge Police Department and has been investigating jointly with them. Pigeon Forge Police have charged Suttles and Elliott with Abuse of a Vulnerable Adult. Both have been arrested and are awaiting extradition to Pigeon Forge, TN.
