INCIDENT: PC 664/187(A), Attempted Murder

LOCATION: Sidewalk in front of 25281 Van Leuven St., Loma Linda

SUSPECT(S): Kendi Pakeybey, 56-year-old Male Resident of San Bernardino

VICTIM(S): Brandon Wilson, 46-year-old Male Resident of Loma Linda

2nd UPDATE:  Throughout this investigation, the victim, Brandon Wilson, remained in hospice care.  On Thursday, February 1, 2024, he succumbed to injuries sustained in the attack and detectives from the Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail assumed the investigation.  The suspect, Kendi Pakeybey, will be supplementally booked for PC 187- Murder and remains in custody without bail.

UPDATE 1: On Monday, January 8, 2024, investigators from the Central Station identified Kendi Pakeybey, as the suspect involved in the attempted murder of Brandon Wilson on December 25, 2023. Pakeybey was arrested for attempted murder. Pakeybey was booked into the West Valley Detention Center and is currently being held in lieu of $1,000,000 bail.

SUMMARY: On Monday, December 25, 2023, at approximately 1:20 p.m., deputies from Central Station and medical personnel responded to 25281 Van Leuven St. (Veterans Apartments) for a subject bleeding from the head. Deputies contacted the victim, later identified as Brandon Wilson. Wilson was unresponsive and transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center for treatment. 

Witnesses described the suspect as a black male adult approximately 5'08", average build, last seen wearing a blue sweatshirt and blue sweatpants. The suspect had a short afro hair style and was carrying an aluminum pole or baseball bat. He was last seen walking west on Van Leuven St. toward Poplar St., after the incident.
