Advisory

Winter Weather Advisory until 03:00PM Friday

...POTENTIALLY IMPACTFUL SNOW FRIDAY INTO THE WEEKEND... .A gale force front will bring widespread moderate to heavy precipitation to the northern panhandle and NE gulf coast beginning Friday morning and lasting into Saturday. With cold air in place, precipitation is expected to start as snow before gradually transitioning to a mix as the surface front turns winds more southerly and brings up surface temperatures. Any stalling of the surface front could lead to a later transition to mixed precipitation, resulting in greater storm total snow accumulation. An earlier wind shift and warm up would result in an earlier change to rain. Stay tuned for the latest forecast information on this developing system.

* WHAT...Wet snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 6 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.

* WHERE...City and Borough of Yakutat.

* WHEN...From 3 AM to 3 PM AKST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be difficult.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow will begin early Friday morning, becoming wetter and eventually mixing with rain as temperatures gradually warm throughout the day Friday.

* AFFECTED AREAS: CITY AND BOROUGH OF YAKUTAT
