Crime Alert Bulletin Covering the Week of January 29 - February 4, 2024

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Robberies

There was one robbery and one attempted robbery during the past week.

On Sunday, 02-04-24, at approximately 5:19 p.m., officers were dispatched to Target at the Serramonte Shopping Center on a report of a shoplifting. An asset protection specialist stated three suspects concealed approximately $460 worth of merchandise in bags. The suspects then placed the bags into a shopping cart. The suspects purchased a soda and a gift card and walked toward the store exit. The asset protection specialist walked near the suspects, and one of the suspects reached toward her right pocket as she threatened to mace the asset protection specialist. Near the mall exit, the shopping cart wheels locked; therefore, the suspects took the bags out of the shopping cart and walked out of the mall exit. Officers stopped the suspects and found two shoulder bags lined with foil and additional merchandise from another store with the security sensors still attached. The suspects were arrested for robbery, conspiracy to commit a crime, and possession of burglary tools. One of the suspects was also arrested on an outstanding warrant. Two of the suspects, 18-year-old San Francisco residents, were booked into jail, and the third suspect, a 17-year-old San Francisco resident, was released to a guardian.

On Wednesday, 01-31-24, at approximately 10:00 p.m., in the area of Park Plaza Drive and John Daly Boulevard, a known suspect attempted to forcefully take a victim’s purse. This investigation is continuing.

Nextdoor.com

Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try!  www.nextdoor.com
