On February 7, 2024, members of the Arroyo Grande Police Department investigation unit served a search warrant at a residence in the 700 block of Asilo Street in Arroyo Grande as part of an ongoing investigation into possession of child pornography.
The Arroyo Grande Police Department began investigating after receiving a cyber-tip from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force relating to sexually explicit images of children being downloaded on an electronic device at a private residence. During the search, officers located and seized multiple items of evidence in connection with possession of child pornography.
Alexander Ridgway Elliott, a 26-year-old resident of Arroyo Grande, was arrested on a felony charge of possessing child pornography. Elliot was later booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail, where his bail was set at $35,000.
The Arroyo Grande Police Department works directly with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force to investigate all case referrals proactively. ICAC is a national network comprising 61 coordinated task forces representing over 5,400 federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies dedicated to preventing Cybercrime against children.
