Man Barricades Himself Inside Apartment After Threatening Woman in Rancho Cucamonga



DATE/TIME: February 9, 2024 / 5:32 A.M.

INCIDENT: PC 245- Assault with a Deadly Weapon

LOCATION: 10000 Block of Church Street, Rancho Cucamonga

SUSPECT(S): Gaston McWhinnie, Age 24, Resident of Rancho Cucamonga

VICTIM(S): Confidential


SUMMARY: On Friday, February 9, 2024, at approximately 5:32 A.M., Rancho Cucamonga deputies responded to a call for service for an assault with a deadly weapon. The suspect, later identified as Gaston McWhinnie, threatened the victim, and pointed a firearm at her.

McWhinnie proceeded to lock himself inside of the apartment. Deputies attempted to call McWhinnie via his cell phone and made public address announcements. McWhinnie refused to answer or surrender to deputies. The Specialized Enforcement Division responded to assist, and safely took McWhinnie into custody.

McWhinnie will be booked at the West Valley Detention Center for assault with a deadly weapon.
